Notes in Cheshire Sheaf on a 1575 case in the Chester Exchequer show that Robert Vawdrey, the father, died intestate and there followed a family dispute about the ownership of various properties, including the tithes of Bruera and the vicarage of Bowdon (Cheshire Sheaf, 3rd Series, xxi, p.37).
