Ottwell Worsley was the son of Ralph Worsley of Worsley Mesnes near Wigan. Ralph Worsley acquired the property of Birkenhead Priory at the Dissolution (see http://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/lancs/vol4/pp78-83) A pedigree of the family was produced at the Herald’s Visitation of 1613 published by the Chetham Society and is available online through archive.org https://archive.org/details/visitationofcoun00sainrich/page/72/mode/1up
